ByPass Shutter For Doors

Measuring For ByPass Frame

  •  Inside mounts must have a jamb depth of at least 4″ while 5″ is required for flush mount. (Don’t forget the handle projection, if any).
  • Outside mounts will project 5″ plus valance at the top.
  • Inside mounts may be ordered without side frames if enough jamb depth.

1. Measure the inside width in 3 places – top, middle, and bottom.

2. Measure the inside height in 3 places – left, middle, and right.

3. For inside mount installation use the smallest actual opening measurements. Do not subtract from tight measurements. The factory will take proper deductions.

4. For outside mount instalation use the largest measurements and add 4 1/2″ to width and 3″ to height.

5. If mounting on top of existing trim (recommended), use the largest width measurements from the outside edge of the trim to the outside edge of the trim and measure height top of the trim to floor.

6. If mounting on the wall next to the existing trim, measure width outside edge of trim to outside edge of trim and add 4 1/2″.  Then measure height from top of trim to floor and add 3″.

7. Locate divider rails by measuring from the floor up to the midpoint of the desired location.

8. When either sliding the panels or stacking the panels, the louvers must be in the closed position due to the limited space between the panels.  If you want the louvers to open when stacked or sliding, order an Open ByPass. The tracks are farther apart, which will give more space between the front and back panels.

The floor guide illustrated above is a small guide placed where the sliding sections overlap to keep them aligned. It is not a continuous floor track.
